📍 From Aiguille du Midi, France
Glacier du Géant is a high-altitude glacier in the Mont Blanc massif above Chamonix, descending from the Col du Géant near the French–Italian border and contributing to the glacial system that forms the Mer de Glace. Its fractured surface of crevasses and seracs contrasts sharply with the massif’s dark granite spires, especially when viewed from the Aiguille du Midi area or along the Vallée Blanche. Shifting light reveals blue ice, wind-carved snow and the glacier’s immense scale. The ice itself lies in serious high-alpine terrain; stepping onto it requires glacier equipment, mountaineering experience and, for most visitors, a qualified guide.
