Glaciar Piedras Blancas is a glacier located in El Chaltén, Patagonia, Argentina. The glacier stretches out as a formidable presence over 5km long and 900m high. In contrast to the rather flat surroundings, the glacier stands out as an impressive mountain of ice. Its glacial waters and dynamics form a unique landscape that is hard to forget. Arriving at the foot of the glacier is an experience like no other. Hiking through the forest and up the moraine allows you to observe the glacier's full expanse. The hike is moderate and it is best done in 4-5 hours, starting and ending in El Chaltén. The views from the upper moraine are amazing and rewarding, as you'll be able to observe the mesmerizing, soft millenary ice of the glacier.
