Glaciar Grey occupies the western side of Torres del Paine National Park, beyond the Pudeto sector in Chilean Patagonia. Flowing from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field into Lago Grey, it forms a dramatic terminus of fractured blue ice, dark sediment bands and jagged seracs. Calved icebergs drift across the lake, creating constantly changing foregrounds against the Paine massif and the subdued tones of Patagonian steppe and forest. The glacier can be seen from viewpoints around Lago Grey and approached on authorized boat excursions; shifting cloud, wind and reflected light can transform its color from pale white to deep blue within minutes.
