Giant Pool Balls, in Münster, Germany, is a unique outdoor installation presented by the City of Münster. It is situated in front of the LWL Museum for Art and Culture and consists of 11 giant concrete balls with a mirror effect, ranging in size from 0.5 to 2.5 meters in diameter. The Balls were designed by the Spanish artist Xavier Corberó and are intended to create an intriguing optical illusion as they reflect and transform the surroundings, from the nearby museum building to the trees and grass of the park. An interesting feature of the Balls is that in certain seasons and times of the day, one can see the reflection of the sun or moon on the Balls’ glossy surface. Visitors to the Giant Pool Balls may also be delighted by unique alley trees and beautiful flowerbeds surrounding the Balls.
