Dominating the lively Place Kléber, this prominent bronze sculpture honors the celebrated Alsatian general Jean Baptiste Kléber, a key figure of the Napoleonic Wars. Completed in 1838, it stands near the spot where local gatherings, festivals, and the city's famous Christmas market come to life. Its pedestal, inscribed with key moments from Kléber’s career, is a reminder of his strategic expertise and devotion to his homeland. A hidden crypt beneath holds his remains to this day. Surrounded by diverse shops, elegant cafés, and historic buildings, the square offers a pleasant stop to admire the statue, snap photos, and soak up Strasbourg’s timeless charm.
