📍 Denmark
Gefion Fountain stands in Churchillparken beside Kastellet and St Alban’s Church, near Copenhagen’s Langelinie waterfront. Sculpted by Anders Bundgaard, it depicts a Norse story in which the goddess Gefion harnesses her four sons, transformed into oxen, to plough the island of Zealand from Sweden. The bronze figures lean into the effort above tiers of rough stone and cascading water, giving the scene a striking sense of movement. In wider views, the slender spire of St Alban’s Church rises behind the fountain.
