Gaztelugatxe and Cabo de Matxixako are two incredible sites in the province of Vizcaya, Spain. The imposing Gaztelugatxe is a 9th century hermitage built on a rocky islet surrounded by a turquoise sea. It is connected to the mainland by a stone bridge that you must follow to climb up the stairs and reach the church, breathtakingly perched above the cliffs. Cabo Matxitxako, also known as Matxitxarko, is the rocky headland that plunges into the sea at Deba beach. Here, you can appreciate an amazing landscape, made up of huge rocks, dramatic cliffs and crystal clear water. A narrow and windy coastal road follows the contour of the cliffs offering breathtaking views of the ocean.
