📍 From Road 45, Faroe Islands
The tiny village of Gasadalur lies on the far-flung island of Vagar, one of the 18 main islands of the majestic Faroe Islands archipelago. Located on a rocky amphitheatre of cliffs halfway up the mountain, the small bay of Gasadalur is home to a mere 18 people. The village is accessible by a long tunnel built in 2004 and a staircase carved into the cliff face - making it one of the remotest settlements in Europe. Here, colorful and photogenic grass-roofed houses are perched atop the mountainside, and the beautiful and abundant nature of the Faroe Islands surrounds the area - sheep grazing on the slopes and dramatic waterfalls pouring from the cliffs. With the village located just 15 minutes from the runway at Vagar Airport, Gasadalur is the perfect jumping-off point for your Faroe island adventure.
