The Oriental-Islamic Garden is an enclosed courtyard garden within Gärten der Welt, the international garden park in Berlin’s Marzahn district. Drawing on Islamic ideas of paradise, its four-part layout uses water channels and a central fountain to organize planting within high walls. Moroccan craft traditions shape the decorative surfaces: patterned ceramic mosaics, carved wood and ornamental plasterwork enrich the surrounding arcades. The contrast between the bright courtyard and shaded galleries emphasizes the arches and intricate surface patterns, while views along the water channels reveal the garden’s carefully ordered geometry.
