Ganesh Pol
📍 From Square, India
Ganesh Pol is a magnificent entrance gate at the entrance to the City Palace in Jaipur, India. A symbol of power and strength, the gate was built in 1734 to the orders of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II of the Kachwaha dynasty. The double-storeyed gate is adorned with traditional Rajasthani carvings and showcases the Mughal style of architecture. While the exterior is a combination of red sandstone and white marble, the interior is decorated with intricate frescoes and paintings. At the top of the gateway is the image of Lord Ganesh, the elephant deity which gives it its name.
