Frankton Jetty extends into the Frankton Arm of Lake Wakatipu, beside the lakeside suburb east of central Queenstown. This eastern branch of the glacial lake lies close to Wakatipu’s outlet into the Kawarau River, placing the jetty within an important junction of the region’s waterways. Its low, straight outline draws the eye from the shore toward open water, giving a human scale to the surrounding mountain slopes. When the arm is calm, reflections add a second layer of mountains beneath the skyline.
