Francis Crick Institute
📍 United Kingdom
The Francis Crick Institute is a biomedical research centre on Midland Road in London’s King’s Cross district, beside the British Library and opposite St Pancras International. Named after DNA researcher Francis Crick, it brings scientists from several disciplines together in a purpose-built laboratory complex. Its long façade combines glass with warm terracotta fins, while the high, gently curved roof gives the enormous building a clear silhouette among the area’s railway landmarks. Repeated vertical lines, reflections and passing pedestrians animate street-level photographs. As this is a working research institute, visitors are generally limited to designated public areas and exhibitions rather than the laboratories.
