Fort d’Ambleteuse is a 19th-century fort located in Ambleteuse, France. Perched on a promontory overlooking the English Channel, the fort mostly served defensive purposes during the Franco-Prussian War. Visitors today can explore the fort, taking in spectacular views of the sea on the way. Inside, there are pathways to explore, artillery emplacements and vaults, and even a few canons. There is also a nearby church, chapel, and a canal connecting the fort to Boulogne-sur-Mer. A great way to explore this fascinating historic monument is by bike. You can park your bike at the car park, and then spend the day wandering around the fort.
