The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, in 大林村, Taiwan, is an outdoor museum that celebrates the culture, history and heritage of Taiwan’s aborigines. Within the village’s 50 hectares you will find numerous restored and replicated traditional aborigine dwellings and buildings including houses, churches, a school and a rice festival field. Life-size exhibits, activities and performances demonstrate aspects of aboriginal life and culture, and recreate important celebrations and ceremonies which are otherwise endangered. The village also houses a large collection of traditional artifacts and other items related to the culture. Visitors can learn about the history, attire and music of the aborigine peoples of Taiwan as well as traditional hunting and fishing practices. The village also hosts an annual Aboriginal Cultural Festival in February which celebrates the culture and food of the aborigines.
