Fontanella Zen is a small historic fountain in Asolo, a hill town in Veneto’s Treviso province. Its 1571 date places it within the town’s period of Venetian rule, after the court of Caterina Cornaro, the former queen of Cyprus, had made Asolo a Renaissance cultural centre. The fountain’s modest scale offers a street-level counterpoint to the town’s castle and hilltop Rocca, drawing attention to the smaller civic details of the historic centre.
