Fontana pro vita is a sculptural fountain in Dobbiaco, or Toblach in German, the bilingual South Tyrolean town at the meeting point of the Puster Valley and the Dolomite landscape. Its Latin name means “for life,” giving the flowing water a symbolic association with vitality and renewal. The fountain’s compact form, textured surfaces, and shifting reflections offer an intimate counterpoint to Dobbiaco’s broad mountain setting, while the surrounding village architecture places the work firmly within the cultural blend of northern Italy and the German-speaking Alps.
