Fontana di Trevi is a fountain located in the Trevi district of Rome, Italy. It is the largest and most famous baroque fountain in the city, and it is considered to be one of the most iconic sights in Italy. It is a favorite amongst travelers and photographers due to the beauty and detail of the fountain. Fontana di Trevi is built from travertine stone and was designed by Nicola Salvi in 1762. It was built as part of a complex aqueduct system designed to bring water to Rome. The fountain stands 86 feet high and width 66 feet. It has a niche in the center which houses a statue of the Roman God of Sea, Neptune, and is decorated by sculptures of dolphins and tritons. It also has a massive stone basin which is fed by the aqueduct. The Fontana di Trevi is one of the most popular tourist sites in Italy and it is definitely a must-see for anyone visiting Rome.
