The fountain, originally designed by Giacomo della Porta in 1586, was cast in bronze during the Papacy of Pope Gregory XIII and has become a symbol of the eternal city. The fountain features figures of Neptune, Triton, and other mythological figures, and is surrounded by the tufa, a volcanic rock, and is framed by Agean marble that creates a mesmerizing effect. The fountain is a popular attraction for visitors, and a perfect spot to take photos of the cityscape of Rome.
