Fontaine Bartholdi is a public fountain located in Lyon, France situated in the city's Place de la Liberté. Designed by the French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, the fountain was built in 1886 in honor of the centenary of the French Revolution. It features a grand Baroque-style design, with four large allegorical figures, a tall central column, and many smaller details. The allegorical figures include a seated figure representing Liberty that is the centerpiece, a kneeling male figure on the left called 'France Entering into an Alliance with the Arts,' and a woman on the right figures known as 'The Arts Shielding Herself from an Armed People'. The central column is topped by a large vase, from which water cascades down into the four basins below. The fountain is illuminated at night, making it an impressive sight.
