The Kota Kinabalu City Mosque, also known as the Floating Mosque, is on of the largest and most popular places to visit in Malaysian Borneo. It was completed in 2000, and has a grand design, with both Islamic and Indian influences evident in its architectural style. Its three minarets stand majestically at 61 m high, while a huge reflecting pool circles the building and reflects the beauty of its intricate designs. Visitors are welcome to explore from the outside, but the surrounding grounds are set aside for prayer. The mosque is located 6 km northeast of downtown Kota Kinabalu, and is easily accessible by tax or rental car.
