📍 From Bastion South, Hungary
Fisherman's Bastion is a 19th-century terrace located in Budapest, Hungary, on the Castle Hill overlooking the Danube River and the Pest side of the city. From this lookout point you can enjoy the stunning view of the Pest cityscape, as well as the iconic spires of the Matthias Church, which is located next to the terrace. Originally built to protect the city from invaders, the terrace was named for the fishermen’s guild who were responsible for the defense against enemies. The monument was restored in 1903 and today it is one of the city's defining landmarks. The level terraces of the Bastion are connected by stairs and paths and feature an array of neo-Romantic and neo-Gothic details.
