The Ferguson Power Plant is an abandoned hydroelectric dam located in Granite Shoals, Texas. The dam was built in 1938 and operated from 1944 until 1959. It is now an interesting landmark and an ideal spot for photographers of all levels of experience, who wish to capture the unique beauty of this decommissioned infrastructure. Due to its dilapidated structure, the dam offers photo-ops of contrasting surfaces, textures, and motifs. It also presents an excellent opportunity to capture the contrast between nature and human-made structures. The dam is surrounded by a wilderness rich in cacti and creeks, as well as beautiful views of Lake Lyndon B. Johnson. Therefore, it offers both a piece of history and a unique photographic challenge.
