📍 Germany
FDGB Ferienheim Fritz Heckert is an abandoned former holiday camp in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. This became a relic of the socialist era after German reunification. It was built in the 1960s and was mainly used by East German families as a place to spend their holidays. The complex was an all-inclusive resort that boasted a full range of recreational amenities: hotel, camping site, summer apartements, restaurant, beach and pool. Now, the whole complex is left to decay, a surreal reminder of the past. Its resemblance to a ghost town kind of makes it feel like you stepped into another era. Visitors can even find the camp's swimming pool still filled with water. Tours are organized for visitors and a museum was also recently opened in one of the former restaurant buildings. There are lots of activities for tourists here including Hiking, Cycling and Exploring.
