Cabo Polonio is a small fishing village located in the Atlantic Ocean about halfway between the cities of La Paloma and Cabo Polonio in Rocha, Uruguay. A unique destination with a unique atmosphere, Cabo Polonio has become an increasingly popular destination for both travelers and photographers looking for a remote and off-the-beaten-path spot to explore. The highlight of the village is the Farol de Cabo Polonio, a grand lighthouse built in the late nineteenth century and still operational today. Its red-and-white striped design is instantly recognizable and can be seen from many vantage points within the village. A walk around the lighthouse leads to some fantastic views of the sea and surrounding area, making it one of Cabo Polonio's hidden gems.
