Faro San Vicente is one of the most iconic sights in San Vicente de la Barquera. It is a lighthouse located on the small island of San Vicente off the coast of Cantabria. It stands on the edge of a rocky cliff, providing beautiful and majestic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Bay of Biscay. The lighthouse was built in 1725 and then extensively remodelled in 1845. Faro San Vicente is a popular spot for sightseers who come to admire the amazing views and capture memories to take home. Visitors can get to the island by boat, with the boats departing from San Vicente de la Barquera. The island itself has historical ruins, a lighthouse keeper's house and a number of walking trails that offer quite a stunning view of the surroundings.
