Faro de Torredembarra is the compact lighthouse that marks a rocky promontory on the Mediterranean coast of Torredembarra in Catalonia. Visually it registers as a white cylindrical tower with a colored lantern, attached to low keeper’s buildings, set against the sea and the low-rise town behind it. The site is interesting for the juxtaposition of maritime masonry and the smooth horizontal lines of the coastal town, with exposed rock and wave-sculpted shore providing strong foreground texture. Photographically, compositions benefit from wide-angle views that include the promontory’s wet rocks for reflections, the tower’s vertical symmetry against a long horizontal horizon, and the scale contrast with nearby palms and promenades. The lighthouse is a local coastal landmark visible from the shoreline and seaside walkway.
