
The ancient city of Sana'a, Yemen, is an incredible site to take in as a traveler. With beautiful, brightly-painted buildings in shades of ochre, blue, and white, and a winding network of mudbrick alleyways, it is an incredible experience. There are also dozens of towers, fortifications and gates, many of which date back to the 9th century. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the capital of Yemen. Take time to explore the quainter parts of the city, the crowded bazaars, and the old winding streets, and to pause and relax in the many peaceful alleyways, courtyards and gardens. A visit to the Grand Mosque for Friday prayer is a must, and remains an incredible cultural experience. The Old City is full of architectural marvels and a great place for getting lost. Do not forget to try the delicious traditional food and to take in the captivating atmosphere of the city.
