📍 Gibraltar
The Europa Point Lighthouse, located in Gibraltar, is a tower that stands guard at the entrance of the Mediterranean Sea. It is one of the most iconic landmarks of Gibraltar, and stands at around 86 feet tall. A symbol of British international power, it was built in the 18th Century to guide sailors to safety near the tip of the Gibraltar Peninsula. It went through many improvements from the 1800s to1960, when it was electrified and automated. Its viewing platform offers a spectacular view of both Europe and Africa. You can see Fisherman's Beach, the Strait of Gibraltar, Morocco's Rif Mountains, the sand dunes of Tarifa on the Costa de la Luz, an array of luxury ships undulating in the sea and more. It is also one of Gibraltar's best spots for bird watching, as a wide variety of raptors and migratory birds can be seen. Explore the lighthouse or simply take in the breathtaking scenic views. Make your way up the winding staircases and admire the long corridors. Whatever you choose, this site is definitely worth a visit.
