Eternal Flame and WW2 Memorial in Karaganda, Kazakhstan serves to honor the courage and ultimate sacrifice of those who fought and died on the Eastern Front during World War II. Located in the center of the city, the memorial pays tribute to those who gave their lives to ensure the freedom of Kazakhstan. The structure consists of a monument in the shape of a flame, with a granite wall holding plaques with the names of those who served and perished. The eternal flame was lit in 1968 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany. It is a great place to pay your respects and honor the war veterans that fought for a free Kazakhstan. It is an especially meaningful place for locals, with many coming to visit and lay flowers during special holidays.
