The Estatua de Feijoo is located in the Plaza de Alfonso II El Sabio, in the city of Oviedo, Asturias, Spain. It was created in honor of the famous eighteenth-century Spanish Enlightenment writer Benito Jerónimo Feijoo. The statue, sculpted by Alejandro Carnicero in 1804, shows the writer in a seated position looking up and holding a book under his left arm. Feijoo is considered one of the main authors of the Spanish period of Enlightenment, so the statue has a high historical and literary value. The sculpture is eight meters high and made of bronze and marble. It is one of the most emblematic monuments of the city and a must-see for tourist and locals.
