📍 Mexico
Ven a la Luz (“Come into the Light”) is a monumental sculpture by South African artist Daniel Popper at Ahau Tulum, along the town’s Caribbean hotel strip. Created for the 2018 Art With Me festival, it portrays a woman opening her chest to reveal a plant-filled archway, blending the human form with imagery of Tulum’s tropical landscape. Wood, rope, steel and greenery give the figure an organic, weathered texture, while its closed eyes and near-symmetrical pose create a calm, iconic silhouette. A straight-on composition uses the opening to frame visitors and convey the sculpture’s scale. Once a roadside landmark, it now stands within the resort’s sculpture park, where access is managed rather than fully public.
