Erwarton Hall Gatehouse is located in the small village of Erwarton in Suffolk, United Kingdom. It is one of the oldest surviving stone gatehouses in England and dates back to the 15th century. While the hall itself has sadly gone, the gatehouse has been restored with a steeply pitched roof and beautifully carved gables. It was once part of Erwarton Hall, owned by the local Tyrell family. During the Second World War, the Royal Air Force used the grounds to station training aircrafts. Inside the gatehouse, visitors can explore the traditional gatehouse, with its stone walls and wooden beams. The gatehouse is also made up of a Jacobean dwelling and an old stable. The main features to explore include ancient wooden doors and fireplaces, as well as an old porch. Visitors can also take a stroll around the grounds, which were once part of the extensive Erwarton Hall estate.
