Erice is a picturesque hilltop town located in Sicily, Italy. This small, Medieval village overlooks the island province of Trapani, offering dramatic views of the coastline and stunning architecture. The town is filled with winding cobblestone streets, old churches, and historic monuments. In the town, there’s the Erice Castle, believed to be founded by the Elymians in the 8th century BC. There is also Castello del Balio o Pepoli, a fort constructed in 1581, containing an old Watch Tower. The gardens of Villa Venere provide excellent views as well as a fantastic outdoor excursion. Erice is also home to various places of worship and monuments, such as the Vaglio di Erice Mosque and the San Giuliano Cathedral. With its gorgeous natural scenery and old architecture, Erice is sure to provide a memorable experience.
