Entrada a Isla del Lago del Castillo, in San Lucas el Grande, Mexico is a spectacular sight. The entrance to the small island, a volcanic plug called Isla Perros, is marked by a white arched bridge spanning the lake, and in the shimmering blue waters lies a majestic red-roofed castle. The entrance to the Castillo is framed by lush green foliage that provides a peaceful setting. Strolling around the perimeter of the castle, visitors will be able to appreciate different wildlife such as reptiles, amphibians, and birds. The views of the surrounding mountains, variety of trees and lush vegetation, provide an ideal backdrop for photographers. Although difficult to access, the entrance to the Isla del Lago del Castillo is well worth the effort.
