The Empty Sky Memorial is located in Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ, United States and serves as a memorial to the 749 people from New Jersey who died in the September 11th terrorist attacks. Designed by architect Jessica Jamroz and crafted by sculptor Steve Kass, the site is composed of two stainless steel walls extending 200 feet into the sky that are inscribed with the names of the victims. At the center of the memorial a sliver of sky is visible between the walls, offering a glimpse of the sky that they will never see again. This memorial serves as a reminder about the tragedy of 9/11 all while inspiring a sense of strength, peace, and faith in future generations of New Jerseyans.
