Embalse Casares de Arbas is an artificial lake located in the Arbas river valley, in the municipality of Cubillas de Arbas, in the province of Leon, Spain. It was created in 1950 to be used as a reservoir, and it is also used for recreational activities and as a habitat for many waterfowl species. It is also bounded by a beautiful forest of holm oaks and other tree species, making it a very attractive sightseeing spot. You can have a pleasant walk on its surrounding roads, go fishing, have a picnic, spend time with your family, ride your bike, or trek in the forest. There are also several hideaways provided by the surrounding vegetation, and several spots around it where you can take great views of the lake. The area is also home to a small museum, which displays the history and heritage of the region.
