Ely Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, is a breathtaking building located in the city of Ely, Cambridgeshire, in the United Kingdom. The cathedral dates from 1083 and is the only medieval Norman cathedral still standing in the United Kingdom. Located in the very heart of the city, the cathedral comprises of a stunning nave, choir and Lady Chapel and boasts of interesting features like the Octagon Tower and galleries. Ely Cathedral has a grand vault roof supported by magnificent columns, which enhance the cathedral's beauty. It also houses a wonderful collection of stone and wooden sculptures as well as medieval stained glass windows. Ely Cathedral is also known for its mesmerizing organ music and its wonderful architecture, which make it a very popular tourist destination. Although the Cathedral is normally closed in the evening, it is open to visitors all year round and there are regular lunchtime concerts and event performances.
