Eltz Castle is a Medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Moselle River near Wierschem, Germany. Built in the 12th century, its stunning architecture, towers, and scenic location make it one of the most beautiful castles in the region. It is unique among Rhineland castles, as it was never destroyed or damaged by war. The castle is owned by the Eltz family, who have continued to hold it for 33 generations. It remains almost entirely unaltered from its medieval past, making it an integral part of German history. Visitors to the castle are allowed to explore the exterior. Inside, guided tours are available. Visitors can tour the Great Roomm 1304, decorated with brothers portraits, family crests and coats of arms. They can view the Regal Room, with its historic weapons, astrolabes, and giant weather vane gifted in 1540. Visitors can visit the treasury, with its priceless collection of jewelry, depicting the importance of the Eltz family. Other things to see in the castle include the kitchen, chapel, and Bernhard Tower. Those seeking outdoor adventure can take a walk around the castle grounds and view the sweeping landscape.
