📍 From Lower Public Dock, Bahamas
Elbow Reef Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located on Elbow Cay in the Abacos archipelago of the Bahamas. Built in 1864, it stands 65 feet tall and is easily identifiable from the 18th century style of architecture. It is the northernmost lighthouse on the outer islands of the Bahamas and is still in active service. Visitors to Elbow Cay are able to see the distinctive red and white stripes of the lighthouse's iron tower partly submerged in the Caribbean waters. As part of the Abacos Cays complex, Elbow Reef has significant marine life, making it one of the best locations for snorkelers and scuba divers. Visitors can also access the beach areas nearby the lighthouse and explore the local attractions such as the Abacos Market, the Hope Town Museum, and Hole-in-the-Wall Beach.
