El Partal
📍 Spain
El Partal is an archaeological site located in the Albaicin district of Granada, Spain. The site consists of a 12th century mud-brick palace, remnants of an old mosque, and many other buildings. Originally built in 1238 as a recreational palace for the Nasrid dynasty, it was destroyed by an earthquake in 1518 and then renovated in 1523 before being abandoned. It was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument of Spain in 1931.

The site has been carefully restored over the years and the remaining 14th century walls and towers of the palace have been preserved. Visitors can still explore the interior of the palace, with its profound architectural details, marveling at the incredible geometric design of its brickwork structure. The ruins are surrounded by gardens adorned with orange trees and filled with birdsong, making a stroll through the area a delight. The views of Granada and the mountains beyond are spectacular. El Partal is a place of great historical and architectural significance and well worth a visit.
