El Pailon del Diablo, in Río Verde, Ecuador is a popular scenic spot located in the Tungurahua Province, about 30 miles from the capital city of Baños. The waterfall is around 100 feet in height with a spectacular view of the Pastaza River beneath the bridge. It was given its name, meaning the Devil’s Kettle, due to the sound of the roar of the fall resembling the sound of a boiling cauldron. Visitors can take a 20-minute walk along a bridge above the falls and view its beauty from a close distance. Enjoy views of the adjacent cliffs and mountains, and if you're lucky you may spot some wildlife like wild parrots and capuchin monkeys. Additionally, a drive along the Pastaza River offers more beautiful views, especially during the rainy season. Buses and taxis are available from the nearest town of Baños. Make sure to pack a jacket as mist from the fall can make it a bit cold.
