📍 From Osaka Castle’s Plum Grove, Japan
East Outer Moat is an ancient Japanese landmark found in the city of Osaka. The moat was created in the 16th century and was part of an extensive system of forts and moats around the Osaka Castle. The East Outer Moat is one of the three moats surrounding the castle, and the longest, stretching over 625 meters. It is made of strong granite walls built in a zigzag pattern which was designed to reduce its vulnerability to attack.

Visitors to the moat can take a walk along its length as well as enjoy the view of the Osaka Castle from the south bank. You can also see two fortresses at each end, known as Takatsu-yagura and Okashi-no-mon. On the east side is the lovely park with its wide variety of trees, a fountain and a small pond, making it a great spot for a quiet break.
