The Dwór Bractwa św. Jerzego, also known as the Dwór Mieszczański, is a historic brotherhood hall on Podmurna Street, beside the ruins of Toruń’s Teutonic castle. Built in the late 15th century for the Brotherhood of St George, it served as a meeting place for the city’s wealthy burghers rather than as a church. Bricks salvaged from the castle, demolished following the townspeople’s uprising in 1454, were reused in its construction, giving the hall a material connection to Toruń’s rejection of Teutonic rule. Its red-brick masonry and Gothic details echo the nearby fortifications; the close grouping of the civic hall and castle remains makes this corner of the Old Town a particularly revealing scene of medieval urban power.
