Dwór Artusa, or Artus Court, stands on the southern side of Toruń’s Old Town Market Square, facing the medieval town hall. The present Neo-Renaissance building dates from 1891, but occupies the site of an older meeting house associated with the city’s merchants and civic life. The earlier court hosted the signing of the Second Peace of Toruń in 1466, ending the Thirteen Years’ War between Poland and the Teutonic Order. Its red-brick façade, pale stone detailing and ornate roofline distinguish it from the neighboring townhouses; a view across the square reveals the contrast between its 19th-century architecture and the Gothic town hall. Today, Artus Court serves as a cultural center, hosting concerts, exhibitions and other events.
