Duxbury Bay
📍 United States
Duxbury Bay is a shallow tidal inlet on Massachusetts’s South Shore, sheltered from the Atlantic by the long barrier beach of Duxbury Beach. The waterfront reflects the town’s history of shipbuilding and seaborne trade, while sailing and oyster farming remain part of the bay’s present-day identity. The wooden Powder Point Bridge links the mainland to Duxbury Beach, its low deck and repeated supports drawing a distinctive line across the water. Low tide reveals broad flats and tidal channels, changing the scene from an expanse of water to a patterned landscape of sand, mud, and narrow waterways. Salt marshes fringe parts of the bay, adding texture and seasonal color to a coastal setting shaped as much by the tides as by its maritime heritage.
