The Dutch Windmill is the last of the original nine windmills to be built in San Francisco, California. Built in 1902, it is located in Golden Gate Park, near the ocean. An iconic landmark of the city, it stands at 42 ft high and has a wingspan of 28ft. Visitors to the Windmill may climb the staircase inside the tower for a better view of the park, or simply observe the view of the Pacific Ocean. From the Windmill’s rooftop, visitors can reminisce over the famous 1889 Dutch Immigration to this city. For visitors seeking souvenirs, the Dutch Windmill Gift Shop is also open to the public. Located just off the Great Highway, the Windmill is easily accessible to all.
