The Duomo di San Martino is an impressive Romanesque-style cathedral in the Italian city of Lucca. Built between 1063 and 1128, the cathedral is recognizable by its intricate marble work on the exterior, including the 48 columns and four portals. Inside, you can admire the impressive interior and visit the sacristy, which contains some of the city's historical treasures, such as 13th-century frescoes, the altarpiece of the martyrdom of St. Martin, and beautiful inlaid marble works from the 12th and 13th centuries. Make sure to also take a look at the baptistery, constructed in 1063 and adorned with coloured marble columns. There’s also a museum next to the cathedral, featuring gold and silverware, liturgical garments and precious stones. A trip to Duomo di San Martino, definitely provides visitors with a unique window into an important part of Lucca’s history.
