The Duomo di San Giorgio in Ragusa, Sicily, is a stunning baroque church that dates to the early 18th century. Laid out in a distinctive Latin cross form, the church features an elaborate façade dominated by a central campanile and four statues. Inside, the church features a grand nave and two aisles, with numerous masterpieces of sculpture, painting and architecture adorning the walls and ceiling. The main treasure of the Duomo di San Giorgio is the extraordinary wooden altar designed by Giacomo Gagini, said to be the finest of its kind in all Italy. The church also houses a picture gallery that includes a number of works from great artists, including Caravaggio.
