Duomo di Milano is an iconic, gothic-style, Italian cathedral, located in the heart of Milan, Italy. It was begun in 1386 and completed in the 19th century. Its grand facade is adorned with spires, pinnacles, statues, and mosaics and a magnificent portal. Its inner walls, complete with a complex system of vaults and arcades, house a collection of sculptures from renowned Italian artists including Donatello, Michelangelo, and Verrocchio. It also features the 24 hour 17th century astronomical clock, known for its impressive details. The cathedral can be seen from much of the city, and travelers wishing to view its beauty firsthand can take an elevator to the rooftop terrace, offering spectacular views of Milan as well as the Alps in the distance.
