The iconic Duomo di Milano, or the Cathedral of Milan, is the most iconic landmark of the city and is truly a sight to behold. Built over 600 years ago, the Duomo is an impressive example of Gothic architecture and features a massive floor plan that stands out from the rest of the cityscape. The Duomo is a major Catholic church and houses five naves, 130 spires, 3300 statues and over 8500 metres of mosaics. Visitors can climb onto one of the Duomo’s rooftop terraces, where they can get a bird’s-eye view of the city of Milan. The Duomo sees more than 6 million visitors a year, making it one of the world’s most visited tourist spots.
